MINING/ENGINEERING
Engineering isn’t a really good way to make gold in my opinion but if you still want to pick this as a gold earning profession: Here are the usefull stuff.
For yourself: Engineering provides you a nice Hand enchant which grants 400 haste on use with a 1min CD.
Till 450, Engineering will only profit you by some usefull bombs and scopes (if you are a hunter) besides the hand enchant. You can consider making yourself some bombs to help you out in questing and BGs.
When 450 engineering only profits you with some Scopes to sell on the Auction House and Mechano-Hog mounts. Mechano-hog recipe can be bought from the Warsong Offensive Vendor by reputation. And to make it you will need a lot of mats (which cost around 12K in Total if you buy them). You can grind the Titansteel bars yourself with mining and buying Titansteel CDs.
Mechano-Hogs can be sold for 12-15k G depending on the server but there is always a risk of people not buying it and being stuck with the 12k G spent for the mats. Making the mechano-hog is really risky.
Apart from the mount you can only make scopes and sell them on the auction house at 450 skill level. Hunters will probably be looking for these scopes and they go for around 40g per scope.
These are what you can do to earn gold with Engineering, But again it is NOT a recommended way to earn gold. By making these few things to earn gold, you can also farm mines with mining to sell on the Auction House. But the profit you will earn is nearly Half of the other profession combinations. You should only pick this if you really want the mount or hand enchant, scopes and bombs.

TAILORING/ENCHANTING
Another pair of professions: Tailoring and Enchanting. Tailoring is basicly useful for making Cloth items so you would probably want to pick these for a cloth-wearer character such as a Priest, Warlock or Mage.
Tailoring and Enchanting both dont have a skill bonus, but with Tailoring you can enchant your own cloaks with embodiers with skills such as “your spell casts have a chance to increase your spellpower for 299) which are quite powerfull compared to regular cloak enchants, and enchanting allows you to Enchant your Rings: which no one else can do.
To be able to level tailoring you will need a huge amount of cloth so you should choose levelling in areas with a majority of Humanoid mobs. To be eble to level Enchanting you will definitely need a profession which crafts disenchantable items such as Tailoring, Leatherworking and Blacksmithing.
But since Leatherworking requires Skinning or Blacksmithing requires Mining in order to save a huge amount of gold, the best choice is Tailoring becaue Tailoring doesnt need a gathering profession to accompany it.
You will basicly be levelling Tailoring with Enchanting by making items with Tailoring and Disenchanting them with Enchanting to get enchanting Mats to skill it up.
At low levels there arent much to do with enchanting then to skill it up and enchant your own items.
With tailoring you can make some green items to sell on the auction house for a low price to earn a few extra coins.
Tailoring starts profiting when you are able to make Netherweave bags. You can sell them on the auction house and trust me, the first bag people buy for their alts is Netherweave bag! Even though they only sell for around 15g you can make nice amounts of it if you make enough.
At 450 You will be able to make Frostweave bags, and some usefull leg enchants for Casters only. You would want to consider making lots of leg enchants according to the demand on your server, and also making loads of Frostweave bags to earn some gold.
You should also look out for nice epic item recipes. People will want to get them or have them crafted. Just like in Leatherworking or Blacksmithing, you can either make them yourself and sell them on the Auction House for 1.3K to a maximum of 8-9k Gold, or craft them with peoples own mats for a nice amount of fee.
Enchanting on the other hand is quite useless untill you are able to make some usefull enchants (approximately around 400 skill point to 450)
When you have enchanting skilled high enough, you can start selling the extra mats on the Auction House, Since EVERYONE WILL NEED ENCHANTS and not everyone picks enchanting, so they will buy the mats from the auction house.
After getting to 450, you can start linking your enchanting on Trade to find costumers ( and trust me you wont wait a second to get one!) and start enchanting their items for a nice amount of fee. Enchanting items dont really require a high amount of fee, but many people will get enchants done and you will see that you are actually making nice amounts of gold off it!

MINING/JEWELCRAFTING
Mining/Jewelcrafting is probably one of the most gold making professions in WoW.
We did talk about mining in the Part VII, so we will talk about the basics of Jewelcrafting and making gold off it.
Jewelcrafting is simply about making jewelery such as rings, Necklaces and gems out of mines and uncut gems. So again you will need to grind every mine you encounter and you will also want to keep any kind of gem you find! (Like Malachite, Shadowgem, Tigerseye in low levels, Aquamarine, Jade and Citrine at higher levels and so on)
You will basicly need mines + GEMS to level your Jewelcrafting.
The Bonus of Jewelcrafting is that you can create and use 3 Gems which only Jewelcrafters can use, and which are nearly twice as powerful as regular Epic Gems. So Jewelcrafting can be picked by anyone.
Jewelcrafting can pay off at any level, but of course the higher skill you have, the better profit it gives.
Starting from low levels you can make various Rings, and Necklaces. Dont bother selling the greens on the Auction House since they wont really profit you. But definitely sell the blue rings and necklaces on the AH at low levels. Twink players will definitley like those blue miscellaneous items you sell
Jewelcrafting needs caution when levelling tho. If you try skilling it up by the wrong way it will only cost you more mines and Time. Visit wow-professions.com for an epic JC Levelling guide!
At 450, Jewelcrafting can earn you around 2K gold per 3 hours or so (depending on your luck).
You will first have to start off by getting some useful epic gem recipes. To do that you need 10x Titanium Powder to get 1 Jewelcrafting token from the trainer in Dalaran, and 4 tokens to get 1 epic gem cut recipe. You can earn 1 token every day by just doing the daily JC Quest. Dont miss that one!
You will have to farm lots and lots of titanium ore as well. Titanium ores can give Titanium Powders when prospected by chance. And with farming titanium + doing the dailies you will earn new recipes everday. Do this untill you have enough recipes to link your Jewelcrafting in Trade to craft gems for a fee (usually 10g per cut but depends on the server)
When you are picking your recipes to learn you must be VERY CAREFUL. If you pick the wrong recipes you will be wasting 100g-175g worth gems!
Here is a list of Gems which sell the most on the auction house: Try getting these recipes first!
Solid Majestic Zircon
Runed Scarlet Ruby
Bright Scarlet Ruby
Bold Scarlet Ruby
Thick King’s Amber
Quick King’s Amber
Mystic King’s Amber
Brilliant King’s Amber
The off-gems (Eye Of Zul, Ametrine and Dreadstone) can also be sold for a good price on the auction house. Especially the ones which give stat + stamina for PVP but the selling of these depends on your servers. So you might want to check the AH prices before getting recipes for these gems.
After having these recipes, you can begin farming titanium ores to prospect them and get some Epic gems out of them, cut them and sell them. You can of course sell gems without cutting them but Cut gems are worth more gold than uncut gems.
Remember to make Icy Prism EVERYDAY! it has a 20hour CD and you basicly can do it everyday. You have a chance to get epic gems out of it and you probably wouldn’t want to miss it!
Coming to the Rare gems: they are also worth some gold on the Auction House. But the value differes a lot. You should be carefull before putting some on the Auction House and check if theyre sold or not.
You will gain approximately 2-4 Rare gems per 1 stack Titanium ore Prospect so you will want to cut and sell these as well even though they arent worth as much as epix. But they sure do sell on the auction house. The most valuable rare gem is Scarlet Ruby. You can either sell it cut or uncut because people will need to buy scarlet ruby moe often than any other rare gem.
You would like AtlasLoot to see what gem recipes you can get from Dungeons&Raids and Faction Reputations before getting started. Rare gem recipes can sometimes be bought from factions with reputation (For example Runed Scarlet Ruby recipe is sold by a Kirin Tor Vendor and needs exalted reputation to buy)
After checking those recipes and getting some usefull rare gem recipes as well, you are ready to grind some insane gold out of Jewelcrafting!
