ONE BATTERED HILT ROLL SUMMARIZED AN ENTIRE LIFE

This article isnt about any usefull tips or information about the world of warcraft. Yes it does contain WoW related content but its rather a personal article I decided to write and share my feelings after rolling for the magnificant Battered Hilt in a Pit Of Saron Heroic run.

I was on my newest alt, my undead mage, running some random heroics with my boyfriend and another irl friend along with us. Pit of Saron hit us and we happily accepted the invite and got in. My mage needed the trinket, Nevermelting Ice Crystal. After clearing all the trash mobs till the first boss, Forgemaster Gaafrost, everything was regular.

When we looted the boss, there it was. The magnificant, incredible, %0.01 drop chanced Battered Hilt. We all clicked NEED without even thinking for a second. Since my 2 year wow adventure and limitless time spent on WoW, it was the first time I ever saw it drop. Then the rolls started to scroll down on the Chat screen and there was my poor roll. 1. Yes. 1 as in: Need roll for [Battered Hilt] by Gabriela 1 (1-100).

When I saw the rolls I was totaly stunned. I was blankly staring at my screen. I was never a lucky person. My only luck was being able to get myself out of trouble with the least harm to me.

But I never had an exclusive mount in WoW, or I never had a fascinating title to make other players jealous. My Main [Thundress - Bladefist EU] Has 5.4K GS including some decent ICC drops and that was probably the only thing SOME players would envy about my characters.

But there it was. All the other rolls (46,57,86,51) and my poor 1. This wasn’t even the most ironic part. The player who won the Battered Hilt had a level 264 sword equipped and had 5.6K Gear, but still insisted on the idea that Quel’Dalar was way better and refused to trade it to anyone else. (And yes I asked him if he needed it for the Gold or not , he said he needed Quel’Dalar, and didnt need the tiny 8K gold which the item would bring.)

I guess this is how life goes. Some people keep getting exclusive opportunities, jobs, careers in life, or mounts, achievements, items in WoW, and some people are only lucky enough to survive without getting in trouble in life, or remain as a decent geared regular player in WoW.

Of course I didnt get overwhelmed by this incident. In fact it caused an ironic smile on my face. I never had any exclusive items, or achievements in game, But I now had one exclusive story to tell and make people laugh. Battered Hilt dropped, I saw it, chose need for it and rolled 1.
